REAL-WORLD SOLUTIONS TechUpgrade University Installs Displays to Enhance Education T wo years ago, Salisbury University, an accredited four-year institution in Maryland, began looking at AV solutions for its newly built Perdue Hall, located inside the Perdue School of Business. The University needed a fl exible, reliable AV solution, which required minimal maintenance and could be used by professors, students, and corporate organi- zations who often rent the space for training sessions and conferences. Additionally, the Perdue School of Business' faculty needed a technology solution that would engage and teach their students in new, innovative ways. The University faculty and AV staff worked closely with Convergent Technologies Design Group, Inc. to evaluate a number of AV solutions, including professional projec- tors and displays. Collectively they decided on the Panasonic 103-in. TH-103PF12U professional plasma displays and have since installed seven units. "We've had absolutely zero issues with the displays," says Bob Wood, dean of the Perdue School of Business. "The reliability the displays have shown limits educational downtime in the classroom and frees up our IT team to concentrate on other issues. We've received positive feedback from facility and students who appreciate the displays' ease of operation and visibility in broad daylight. These displays show visi- tors and students that Salisbury University is committed to supplying them with cutting-edge technology." Beyond just being used for presenta- tions and live television, the school uses the teleconferencing system with the display to bring corporate leaders into the classroom. This is key as the school is four-and-half hours from New York City, so this solution allows students access to business leaders who could not normally make the half-day trip. Following the successful deployment of The Panasonic plasma displays received positive feedback from facility and students who appreciate the displays' ease of operation and visibility in broad daylight. These displays also show visitors and students the University's commitment to cutting-edge technology. the Panasonic 103-in. professional plasma displays, the University plans to replace most chalkboards and whiteboards with a similar solution that has proven to enhance not only the educational experience of stu- dents, but the University's image as well.
